Drake Praises Taylor Swift on New Song Red Button: Only One Could Make Me Drop the Al

Drake unleashed his inner Swiftie in new song “Red Button,” which sees the rapper praising Taylor Swift.
“Red Button,” which released on Thursday night along with Drake’s new project “Scary Hours 3,” features the lyrics: “Taylor Swift the only n—- that I ever rated/ Only one could make me drop the album just a little later/ Rest of y’all, I treat you like you never made it.”
Drake and Swift are consistently two of the biggest names in music, and often fight for the top spot on the charts when dropping music around the same time. This happened last year with the release of Swift’s “Midnights” on Oct. 21. Though Drake and 21 Savage’s joint album “Her Loss” was originally scheduled for Oct. 28, it was eventually delayed to Nov. 4. Swift’s lead “Midnights” single “Anti-Hero” held strong at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, but “Her Loss” overtook “Midnights” on the album chart upon its release. Despite the competition, Drake and Swift remain friendly, and the rapper even shared a photo with his arms around the pop star in an April 2022 Instagram post.

Later on in “Red Button,” Drake references his on-and-off feud with Kanye West, seemingly confirming that it’s on again. “Every time that Yeezy called a truce, he had my head inflated/ Thinkin’ we gon’ finally peace it up and get to levitatin’,” Drake raps. “Realize that everything premeditated/ Everyone was good with me, then everyone expression faded.”

Drake and West famously teamed up in 2021 for the “Free Larry Hoover” benefit concert in Los Angeles, calling for awareness and support for Hoover, who was convicted of murder and is currently serving six life sentences. But it didn’t take long for the two to get back on rocky terms, with Drake throwing jabs at West on “Circo Loco” from “Her Loss” as well as this year’s “Search & Rescue,” where the rapper sampled Kim Kardashian talking about her divorce from West.
Drake surprise-announced on social media Thursday that he would be releasing “Scary Hours 3” that night, just weeks after the release of his latest album, “For all the Dogs.”
“I did those songs in the last five days,” he said in the post. “I didn’t have one bar written down for those songs on the night that ‘For All the Dogs’ dropped. It’s not like I’m picking up from some unfinished shit. You know, this is just happening on its own. And who am I to fight it?”
