Met Gala: See Exclusive Portraits of Olivia Rodrigo, Jenna Ortega, Teyana Taylor and More in T

American original Thom Browne delivered another series of inventive looks for the annual Met Gala, and Variety can reveal exclusive portraits of his Hollywood-heavy guest list.

The annual fundraiser for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is the biggest global event in fashion, drawing attendees from all corners of art and media. This year, guests dressed by Browne included Sundance sensation Teyana Taylor (“A Thousand and One”), “Succession” star Alexander Skarsgård, rapper Pusha T, “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega, singer Olivia Rodrigo, model Sora Choi (in what was considered one of the best looks of the evening), Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo, NBA star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and “Glass Onion” star Janelle Monáe.

Fashion photography duo AB+DM were behind the shoot, taken ahead of the themed event. This year, guests were tasked with honoring the legacy of the impactful designer Karl Lagerfeld, who led design houses like Chanel, Fendi and his own eponymous line .

“It’s important to recognize the work Karl put in over his 65 years,” Browne told Variety. “He was a true creative pioneer … that shows in his contribution to design.” Browne also praised partner Andrew Bolton, head curator of the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Met, for the latter’s “important examination” of Lagerfeld’s work.

Browne often pulls from show business for faces to endorse his line — including recent campaigns with child actors Alan Kim and Jude Hill of Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast.”

  The NBA star wears an oversized cardigan coat in white grosgrain ribbon tweed with a black silk faille cricket frame, and skirt in black/white pouf tweed.

• Pusha T

  

  The rapper wears a classic fit double-breasted tuxedo in funmix black-and-white grosgrain and satin ribbon tweed with white grosgrain tipping, a classic round collar tuxedo shirt with french cuffs in white pique, a classic bow tie in black silk faille and longwing spectator brogues with pedestal in pebble grain leather.

  The singer wears a black-and-white silk and tweed camellia flower dress made from a variety of tweeds, leathers and silks. The black-and-white silk satin stems were all made and applied by hand.

• Jenna Ortega

  

  The “Wednesday” and “Scream VI” star wears a black chiffon tweed cropped jacket with a matching reconstructed coat. Underneath, she wear a black beaded tulle mini pannier and a mini black peau de soie corset dress with lacing detail, a white organza shirt with a black silk moiré ribbon and camellia neck bow.

• Janelle Monáe

  

  The “Glass Onion” star wears wears an exaggerated black-and-white funmix tweed tuxedo suit in white chiffon, black grosgrain and white eyelash with black tulle tweed and tipped embroidered camellia flowers. She also wears a black silk moiré pleated skirt with black silk organza inserts and a classic round collar tuxedo shirt in white pique. Underneath is a circular black tulle pannier dress with black-and-white eyelash boned tipping, woven with white four-bar pearl details.

  The Formula One driver wears a classic fit tuxedo in black grosgrain ribbon tweed with tonal tipping, a classic four-bar knit vest in black cashmere and a classic round collar tuxedo shirt with french cuffs in white pique.

• Alexande Skarsgård

  

  The “Succession” star wears a classic fit lapel tuxedo in black lightweight cavalry twill with tonal grosgrain tipping, a classic knit vest in white cashmere, a classic point collar tuxedo shirt with french cuffs in white pique, a classic bow tie in black silk faille and classic longwing boots in black lucido leather. 

• Teyana Taylor

  

  The star of “A Thousand and One” wears a backless tailored double-breasted jacket with full sleeves, worn with a matching drop-waisted skirt with lacing details in embroidered tweed consisting of woven gold and black bullion.

• Sora Choi

  

  The South Korean supermodel — in what was largely considered one of the best looks of the night — wears a down-filled oversized deconstructed coatdress in black-and-white check tweed with hand-gathered tulle tipping and appliqued mother of pearl camellias, and gold bullion chains.
